"Some fancy architect was thinking more about style than practicality, I suspect."

I think T2 was built before the worldwide virus of UltraSecurity was born. At one time it was a normal curbside drop, then when that was deemed too close for comfort to the madbomberkillzone, it was set up so that were two lanes, plus a center one where one could actually drop someone off without blocking anyone. The current situation is an anarchy solution, not allowed, and the best we could hope for.

On the other hand, I just discovered that you can park and get free parking for some amount of time; I think 30 minutes. That was enough for me to pick up some relatives the other day, and a pleasant surprise. - SympaT2

I agree that the system at T1 is better than I've seen elsewhere but I can't see how they could do it at T2 because I can't see where there's enough room to accommodate any parking close to that lane. Some fancy architect was thinking more about style than practicality, I suspect.

How about a ticket system where if the first car stays more than 3 minutes he can't get out without paying for himself and the 10 cars that were stuck behind him? That would put a stop to the mad goodbye kissers! - Jesse James

Jesse : As far as T2 is concerned, they still have the ridiculous and maddening system whereby if one car stops everyone is stuck behind, and this is multiplied by the number of cars stopping. In T1 they have the very sensible and workable arrangement that you can actually park, without blocking anyone else, for 5 minutes free, which should be enough for most people, and if you choose to be longer, you pay. I think it's a good and fair solution.

With regard to the WiFI, yes you can send and receive using your normal email client and settings. At least I could. - MikeP

Can you send emails using SMTP like at T5 Heathrow or can you only send by webmail at Nice? It would be wonderful to be able to send using your normal email program. - HKingsley

I presume that your complaint about T2 drop off is that you can get stuck behind the cars in front as they kiss goodbye to every Tom, Dick and Hervé.

That bugs lme too but I was there the other day (not to drop off - I parked) and it semed to me that there was one lane where this problem doesn't exist. At least that was my impression. Am I wrong?

As for customer service, it's getting better. Since the miserable Champion supermarkets have become Carrefour Market the service is much better. And have you bought frozen foods at Picard lately? The one near me offers great courtesy and friendly service.

They're learning. Slowly. - Jesse James

I can confirm this, and that it works! It's a bit slow and each time you open a new window you have to accept the terms again, but it's a free service, so 'gift horses' and 'mouth' come to mind. It's a good initiative in a country where the customer is generally treated with contempt.

Nice Airport has improved enormously during the years I've been using it. All they have to do now is sort out the drop off/puck up zone at T2, which is as bad as the T1 is good. - MikeP
