From Riviera Reporter Issue 105

Banks come in for their share of criticism so it’s good to recognise when they make a real effort to be helpful. Certainly, that’s the case with Barclays which, recognising the increasing flow of Brits and other anglophones into France, has revamped its services for these clients. The “Destination France” programme brings together mortgages and other aspects of property purchase with general banking services — current accounts, debit cards and the rest. In addition, the bank offers “Francesolutions”, a package of readily accessible information on topics right across the board from financial and real estate issues to broader questions such as health care, education, dealing with the French administration and much more. English-speaking advisers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Says Ian MacDonald, head of International Clients in France: “We have 85 years of experience here. This service has been specially designed to enable British people to settle and live here with a minimum of hassle.”
