There’s a lot of growling about rents. As they are revised they reflect the famous indice du coût de la construction (ICC) which has been spiralling for some time. This is partly, in fact, another instance of “the China syndrome”.  

As Chinese demand for building materials – and notably steel – increases so the cost of the items used to calculate the ICC goes up – and so, automatically, do rents. The only advice I can give is that in most markets there’s no future in renting. Try to buy.
