When the talk turns to books and others speak of the latest Grisham or Ian Rankin you can really play the culturally well-integrated expat by mentioning your forays into French literature. Your grasp of the language isn’t good enough to allow that?

Pas de problème – thanks to America’s Bard College which has launched online Words Without Borders, a selection of international literature of all kinds and from all over. For Balzac & Co you select “France”. You’ll find this cyberlibrary (admission free) at www.wordswithoutborders.org.
