Last time we noted that David Beckham gives a bad example to expats in his Madrilene exile by not learning Spanish and even importing a Geordie mechanic to fit an iPod in his car. 

Diana Rigg – aka Emma Peel of The Avengers – gets a much better mark: “I’ve got a house in France and I always despised myself for not speaking fluent French. So I took myself off the Lycée in Kensington. I was the oldest there by 35 years but I loved it.”
