To vote in the municipales of March 2008 you should register at your local mairie, before December 31st, showing:

  • proof of identity (eg EU passport)
  • proof of residence (electricity bill, rent receipt or similar) no more than 3 months old
  • A self-declaration stating your nationality, date and place of birth, address in France, eligibility to vote in your own country, statement that you have not been deprived of your right to vote in that country and that you intend to vote only in France.
     

Model self-declaration:


Je soussigné(e) (full name) de nationalité (nationality in French), né(e) à (place of birth) le (date of birth in French), désirant voter pour les prochaines élections municipales, certifie sur l’honneur que je ne suis pas privé(e) de mon droit de vote en (name of home country in French) où j’ai voté pour la dernière fois dans la circonscription de (place where you last voted in your home country).

Je n’exerce mon droit de vote qu’en France.
