A Day at Sea without a boat Print
Written by Michael Healy, May 2006

Plenty of possibilities here for non-boat owners to get away from the beaches and enjoy our coast from seaward. One easy one is to take the ferry from Cannes to one of the Iles de Lérins, or from St-Raphaël or Ste-Maxime across to St-Tropez, avoiding that dreadful road round the Gulf and trying to park in St Trop. But for some real action and a friendly welcome, try big-game fishing from Beaulieu-sur-Mer. Skipper Bernard Lacosta with his fast fishing-cruiser Maï Maï II will show you plenty of marine life to contradict Cousteau’s pessimistic pronouncement: “The Mediterranean is a Dead Sea”. Whales, dolphins and (his speciality) tuna-fishing. Experts predict an excellent offshore game-fish season because of this spring's exceptional snow-melt.
