The problem with eating out in the summer is the nightmare of parking. Sophie Struelens and Jérome Martin of L’Atmosphere Sud in Menton offer a solution: an ideal beachfront restaurant on a pedestrian street, so the kids can play within plain view while you enjoy a meal away from the chaos. And there is a free parking lot just next door.
The couple took over the restaurant, located on the baie de Garavan, 18 months ago and completely gutted it to give it a more modern, stylish feel.
The menu, which changes frequently, is traditional local fare and offers great quality at reasonable prices. Bruschetta starts at €6.50 and a main course (risotto, gnocchi, meat) from €12. Try the petits farcis mentonais and you won’t be disappointed. Local Côte de Provence wines range from €18-€39. There’s plenty of outdoor seating with air-con inside; it’s clean and the service is refreshingly friendly.
Open all year Tues-Thurs & Sun 9h-19h and Fri & Sat 9h-22h at 17, Promenade de la Mer Menton.
